Welcome to my website.
Sonically speaking I am an improvising musicianer and composer who is dedicated to developing
the facility that enables me to transfer the musical ideas I hear in my head onto my saxophones, or any other instrument
that is available.
"What is this thing called music?" The answer still eludes me but I know this...
When I watch my daughters play the "bell tree"
(A 100yr old enormous tree in our backyard. We've hung glockenspiel bars from the branches with fishing line)
and sing and dance I am reminded of what the Christ said, "Unless you come to me as a child...", and I am greatly humbled and thankful.
He has created me to worship Him, and so I humbly offer my most honest writing, playing, and life to Him.
Over the past 20 years I've played improvised music
all over the world in countries including Australia, England, Scotland, Turkey,
Greece, Singapore, Italy, Holland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Canada, and
the U.S.A. I have also appeared on over seventy five albums as a musician,
arranger and producer.
Ive spent some time studying and have been awarded both a Masters
of Music (Jazz Performance) and an Associate Diploma of Jazz Studies from
the Sydney Conservatorium, as well as a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of
Education from the University of NSW.
A little known fact is that I am also
a qualified Bradley Method birth instructor, and a qualified Cheesemaker (Stage 1). True.
I live in a quiet, peaceful place a few hours south of Sydney
with my beautiful, talented and amazing wife Lea, (whom I sometimes perform
with), and with my wonderful three daughters - Mira (10 yrs) and Sera (5
yrs), and Ella (3 yrs).
I spend a lot of time growing food in my garden.
